July 2, 2015 – I Corinthians 10:23-24
You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is beneficial. Don’t be concerned for your own good but for the good of others. 1 Corinthians 10:23-24There are so many choices and decisions we each must make every day. How do we know what we choose is right? What is it in us to make us want to hurt others by picking a fight? Is that for the good of others? What makes us want to not obey our Dads or Mothers? Is it for their good? You know the answer. It isn’t good. It is not what God teaches. It is not honoring our father and mother. What makes us do things we know are not right? Like when we get angry or lose patience with someone and we don’t know why.The next verse talks about coming to the light. No one wants to be in the dark. The dark is scary. There is a light that is more powerful than a night light or even daylight in the brilliant sun. This light comes from Jesus. Later, Jesus talked to the people again, saying, “I am the light of the world. The person who follows me will never live in darkness but will have the light that gives life.” John 8:12 What God wants! God wants us to love one another, not ourselves, but others. Then God knows we love Him the most! And He smiles because he loves you!!! And loves you and loves you, always! But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants. John 3:21
