Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge,but fools despise wisdom and discipline.My child, listen when your father corrects you.Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction.What you learn from them will crown you with grace and be a chain of honor around your neck. Proverbs 1:7-9Yes, it was a surprise to me, too.  Yet I have this happening through four generations, going on four — when I saw my Grandmother caring for her mother.  When I saw my Mom caring for my Dad’s Mom.  I cared for my Mom, and now our son and daughter-in-law are caring for us with grace as you lay honor on them.  How blessed it is to see children honoring their parents with no eye-rolling or snickering behind their backs with respect and goodness.Where did this mindset come from?  It comes from discipline, wisdom, understanding what is important in life.  Doing what is right, just and fair to others.  Wisdom – the knowing and acting out the precepts of God.  What is the basis of wisdom?  Love.  When we truly know how to love, we obey God, who is the Author of Love, we become wise in our relationship with others, friends and enemies.The Love that keeps on giving is described in I Corinthians 13:4-6 in The Message, puts Love in every day language: Love never gives up.Love cares more for others than for self.Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.Love doesn’t strut,Doesn’t have a swelled head,Doesn’t force itself on others,Isn’t always “me first,”Doesn’t fly off the handle,Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,Doesn’t revel when others grovel,Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,Puts up with anything,Trusts God always,Always looks for the best,Never looks back,But keeps going to the end.Proverbs…Their purpose is to teach people wisdom and discipline, to help them understand the insights of the wise. Their purpose is to teach people to live disciplined and successful lives, to help them do what is right, just, and fair. These proverbs will give insight to the simple, knowledge and discernment to the young. Proverbs 1:2-5
