Reflection on “The Essence of Oneness!” April 1, 2025
Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. John 17:1-3.
When we believe and trust Jesus, we are promised Eternal Life. Which is described in John 17:3. And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
This is salvation, indeed, For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. Titus 2:11-14.
What one book tells us of God and His Redemption in the Way, the Truth and the Life?
The words of the Lord are pure words, Like silver tried in a furnace of earth, Purified seven times. You shall keep them, O Lord, You shall preserve them from this generation forever. Psalm 12:6-7.
How long will the Bible stay in existence? The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever. Isaiah 40:8.
How is God’s Word described in Psalm 119? How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore, I hate every false way. Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path! Psalm 119:103-105.
Loving one another builds a relationship. When Jesus was baptized, the Spirit of God came. When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:16-17.
God sent Jesus to earth and their relationship was described as being in one another, even as a branch is part of a limb. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be my disciples. John 15:7-8.
Jesus knew how to please His Father God. They are of the same mind. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5.
When we love others, we want to serve them in the name of Jesus. Who was sent to gain forgiveness for us by shedding His blood as a sacrifice for our sins? As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. I Peter 4:10-11.
Jesus prays continually for those that God has given Him. This includes those who believe. He prays we will be one even as God and His Son Jesus are.
“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.” John 17:20-23.
What can we learn from the Word of God? We learn The Way, the Truth, and how to have Life more abundantly. John 14:6. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17.
Through the Word of God—we can live in Oneness with God!
