January 10, 2017 – Matthew 9:27-29

After Jesus left the girl’s home, two blind men followed along behind him, shouting, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” They went right into the house where he was staying, and Jesus asked them, “Do you believe I can make you see?” “Yes, Lord,” they told him, “We do.” Matthew 9:27-29.What is it like to be blind?  I watched my blind Uncle as I grew up using his fingers to see food, people, understand a tree, and read braille.  Not being able to see seemed like a prison to me.Is it any wonder, when the blind men heard about Jesus, son of David, healing that day, they had hope for the first time?  They heard from others that Jesus healed a sick woman and a little girl who everyone thought was dead. They followed Jesus into the house where he stayed and begged for mercy.  They wanted their sight.  Jesus asked one question, “Do you believe?” They answered, “Yes!”What if they had said, “I kinda believe, but not really sure, give me more time.”  That is not faith.  ‘Kinda’ is not a sure thing – I believe is a sure thing that the comes the heart.  It changes our hearts, our mind and the choices we make.Jesus waits for each of us to follow Him, and say, “YES, I believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.” He heals us, too.  When we believe Him, Jesus heals us of shame, guilt, and sorrow.  In place of our sin, He gives us forgiveness, freedom to love, serving Him by the way we choose to live.Search your hearts and know and say it to our Lord today, “I believe in You!!!”

Then he touched their eyes and said, “Because of your faith, it will happen.” Matthew 9:29
