October 20, 2016 – Isaiah 26:2-3

isaiah26-2-3Open the gates to all who are righteous; allow the faithful to enter. You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Isaiah 26:2-3

Open the gates to all the righteous…what does an open gate mean to you?  To me, an open gate is a welcome and means ‘come‘.  There is a keeper or owner of the gate.  The keeper of the gate is Jesus and our entrance depends on having the seal of the Holy Spirit.  In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.  Ephesians 1:13What can we find within the open gate? Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  Matthew 11:28-29.On earth we want a guarantee of how long something will last.  The cost is added to the purchase price.  And yet, holding that guarantee doesn’t always guarantee how long things will last. The price of the entrance into the gate was paid when Jesus hung on the cross and was raised from the dead.  It is free and we know that our trust in our Lord God is eternal for He is forever. Our trust in Him will never decay, give out, or need repair and remodeling.Have you ever tried to move a large rock?  No matter how much strength you develop, a huge rock cannot be moved.  A mountain of rock is an impossibility to move — why should we trust?  Our Lord God is the eternal Rock!Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock. Isaiah 26:4
