What’s in a Card?
Mother’s Day this year proved to be overwhelming!
Thanks to my eldest son. Little did I recognize the power of the post office delivering Mother’s Day cards.
On Saturday a card came bearing the message, Would have sent you on a cruise, but I knew you would miss me. That is the kind of mother you are. My eldest penned, That’s the kind of son I am.
It came bearing a coupon for Ghiradelli chocolates plus news of his family. Sweet rememberance with a touch of humor. My favorite thing.
Then came the second card bearing a coupon for teleflora.com flowers. I wrote back how beautiful the arrangement was and how I admired the vase. I found it on the website and printed it out to enjoy. I emailed my thanks, and received another card. This time with a coupon for a meal at Boston Market. Quickly I checked the menu online (and locations – none nearby) and sent back our choices of meals, thanking him profusely.
The next email came….Heh, heh, heh.
The saga continues….another card came today (Friday) IN SPANISH!….with a note — No matter
how you say it…”Iove you!” Peek here for a translation. Just in case your Spanish is as limited
as mine!
The envelope proclaimed…Making Mothers’ Day last all week!
What’s in a card? Laughter, joy, information, surprise and an immense helping of love. And coupons for thoughtful gestures. Thanks, Dan!
One year at Christmas my husband and I found a way to circumvent finances and give each other stupendous serendipity gifts. We carefully chose and clipped picture ads of our gifts to give each other and placed them in envelopes. Finances did not become a hindrance! The anticipation and the enjoyment of our love of giving was magnified. The plus we discovered? No wrappings to dispose of or depleted bank accounts.
I’m so glad you enjoyed your cards…. and the thoughts that went with them. But doggone! I thought the coupons were a new idea. I guess it just goes to show that thair ain’t nothing new under the son! Or in his haid neither. 🙂
