September 9, 2015 – 2 Corinthians 5:6-8
So we are always confident, even though we know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord. For we live by believing and not by seeing. Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:6-8Confidence in this life comes from believing in the saving grace of God Almighty. Each day this body of mine loses ground as the I count fewer hairs on my head and the aches and pains increase. My fingers lose their strength and begin to cramp. Thinking is not as easy as it once was. On a clear day, I no longer can see forever. One day we will leave these earthly bodies, and through the blood of Jesus, I have another body awaiting for me.Yet, my spiritual sight grows and I realize that this earthly body has an expiration date known only to God. The desire to see a heavenly vista forever becomes ever more dear. Leaving this earth and those I love is difficult, until I remember that they are a gift from God, each one. The One who gifted me with this awesome family will watch over them while we are part, one from the other.Even as a flower grows from seed, and blooms confidently for just a little while – a gift from God, He set me in this time and this moment of infinity. For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing. 2 Corinthians 5:1-2
