September 8, 2015 – Matthew 9:6-7
“So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!” And the man jumped up and went home! Matthew 9:6-7If you were paralyzed, unable to move on your own, would you be afraid to stand when some stranger told you to stand? What was different with Jesus? He has the authority to forgive sins and to love and to perform miracles. Who gave Jesus the authority, that power? His Father in Heaven. No other man who has ever lived on earth has had that power.Jesus raised a girl from a deep sleep. Her parents thought she was dead. As he left the girl’s home, two blind men followed him. Why? They knew that his ancestor was King David. They followed him into the house. Then Jesus asked an important question.”Do you believe I can make you see?” “Do you believe?” This is the same question Jesus asks you. “Do you believe?” Believing is to have faith, it is so, and it will be. Jesus simply touched their eyes and they could see. He didn’t have machines to test what his touch did. The power of Jesus shows in his miracles. He healed and made miracles so that people would believe in the only Son of God.Jesus taught us that if we pray in His Name, He will answer our prayers. Why…this is what he told the blind men. Because of your faith, it will happen. Jesus also taught this, For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7:8. Once you believe in just Jesus, you will be just like the healed blind men…they told everyone!!!After Jesus left the girl’s home, two blind men followed along behind him, shouting, “Son of David, have mercy on us!”They went right into the house where he was staying, and Jesus asked them, “Do you believe I can make you see?” “Yes, Lord,” they told him, “we do.” Then he touched their eyes and said, “Because of your faith, it will happen.” Then their eyes were opened, and they could see! Jesus sternly warned them, “Don’t tell anyone about this.” But instead, they went out and spread his fame all over the region. Matthew 9:27-31
