September 19, 2017 – Psalm 139:16

Psalm 139:16 – You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.

Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways! For who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to give him advice?  Romans 11:33-34

His great love for each of us is so vast that when we contemplate His greatness, we are brought to our knees in worship and thankfulness.  He created our world and everything in it.  No man is able to unravel the mysteries of His creation.  God asked Job (38:4) – Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell me, if you know so much.

The same God who asked Job the piercing questions in Job 38 and 39, is the one who created each of us and loves us with abandon.  He has plans for each of us…that will come to pass.  He has written a record of our lives in His Book. He saw us before each of us were born.  No matter what color our skin, no matter what language we speak, despite any world-view we may think we live in, God’s view will triumph.

We make divisions among God’s people, God continues to love us through our short lives on this earth.  Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.  Ecclesiastes 3:11.

And God thinks of you and of me.  How gloriously awesome are his thoughts. God loves us so much, He sent his Son, Jesus to die to save us from our sin.  When we accept Jesus as our Lord, we are sealed to God for an eternity!  And we sing —  How great is Your love, It reaches to the heavens.  How great is the heart, That sought and rescued me.

Psalm 139:17 – How precious are your thoughts about me, O God.
