September 18, 2020 – Matthew 6:25-26

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Matthew 6:25-26.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you. I Peter 5:6.

Watching birds eating tiny bits of food, where we think there is none, we wonder how they fly with abandon and sing their songs of praise.  These verses underscore the joy of trusting our Creator throughout life.  I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. John 10:9-10.

Our Lord said, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28.

Dear Father God, give me the wisdom and the strength to trust in You in all things.  For You are Good above all. Hold my hand, and help me not be afraid. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

What will we put first in our lives? God knows what we need, so we seek His righteousness and wisdom.

Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:31-33.
