September 16, 2019 – Psalm 73:23-25.
Nevertheless, I am continually with You; You hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward You will receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides You. Psalm 73:23-25.
Fear fills our hearts at every hand about what is, what might be, and what could be. The great prophet Isaiah writes this from the Lord – For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” Isaiah 41:13. John 14:1 echoes…“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. It is Jesus who tells us, “ Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28.
Who is there to rest in, to believe in, but our Father in Heaven? The One who sent Jesus to teach us, and places the Holy Spirit in our hearts to teach us. He is the One who holds our hand with His Right Hand. Though the gales of earthly storms threaten, yet in Him we rest. Yesterday, standing near my son, I slipped my hand into his right hand. What a joy. Then I realized how true these words are! But for me, it is good to be near God, I have made the Lord God my refuge. Our Father in Heaven teaches us through earthly examples He created.
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. For behold, those who are far from You shall perish; You put an end to everyone who is unfaithful to you. But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord God my refuge. Psalm 73:26-28.
