Reflections on “The Word of God!” December 24, 2024.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14.

So many words claw at us from all sides to take our attention. Words like righteousness, Joy, Peace, Love, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. God-like attributes in our personalities. Especially Love! If we don’t love others, we have lost our way.

What are we to celebrate during this season? The world has many ways to celebrate, from elves to the cutest, most expensive gift. However, the most elegant gift is the one God chose to forgive us, which is His One and Only Son Whoe as a Babe into the world and became the Sacrifice for our sins. He loved us so much. What are we to do?

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:33. We cannot purchase the kingdom or a place in Heaven, but search for ways to serve others. Feed the hungry and care for the poor.

Therefore, do not let your good be spoken of as evil; for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men. Romans 14:16-18.

When we speak of the Holy Spirit, this is what Jesus prayed for to teach us and will dwell within us to teach us. On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of His heart will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. John 7:37-39.

What we believe in and what we trust in, makes a difference in our lives, now and forevermore. Forgiveness is not what we consider a serious matter, and then we read, “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Matthew 6:14-16.

How can those who rejoice and seem joyful in each day? The beginning is to be thankful and count your many blessings. Joy is the second in the list of the attributes in Galatians 5:22-23. Rejoice in the Lord always. Again, I will say, rejoice! Philippians 4:4.

Do you know where Peace comes from? But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace, I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. You have heard Me say to you, ‘I am going away and coming back to you.’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice because I said, ‘I am going to the Father,’ for My Father is greater than I. John 14:26-28,

Do you recognize a command from a suggestion? When the Eternal God and His Son who created the Heavens and Earth say, “Rejoice!’ I know I must follow their Command.  The glorious peace that follows comes from God and His Son.

But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also, who love Your name, Be joyful in You. Psalm 5:11.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord.” Jeremiah 17:7. Do you trust in the One God and His Son? Then you will have hope for each day. Not for one day, but for eternity!

But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your Name Be joyful in You. Psalm 16:11.

Celebrate the blessings of Our God and His Son, Jesus!
