Reflection on “Trusting Jesus!” January 21, 2025

Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:3-4. What does it take to trust Jesus?  How did Jesus reflect God His Father? In what ways should we reflect Jesus?

But I trust in you, Lord; I say, “You are my God, my times are in Your hands.” Psalm 31:14-16.

Moses led the children of Israel from slavery in Egypt. Then suddenly the Egyptian soldiers came after the Israelites. They were trapped. The Lord told the Israelites, do not be afraid and The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace! Exodus 14:14.

The Lord commanded to lift his rod and divide the sea. Here Moses showed His Trust in God. The Sea divided and the children of Israel crossed over on the dry bottom of the sea. Reading Exodus 14 shows what trusting God takes -faith and believing.

When we listen and read God’s Word and wait on Him, we find that trusting in Him becomes a true reality for us. So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.  I Corinthians 13:13.

These are the building blocks of Trusting… and removing the anxiety from our lives. ‘Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such, there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23.

Sometimes we cannot stay on track, and we want change. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another, in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:23-25.

In the beginning, was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him, nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 1:1-5. These verses begin just as the first words of Genesis 1. Look at the wonders of creation and realize without Jesus, nothing was created.

Why were we created? Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” Genesis 1:26

We are to live, reflecting the righteousness of God. Indeed, but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” I Peter 1:15-16. Jesus reflected the love of His Father and was called, My Beloved Son!

As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.” John 15:9-10.

Where does Peace and Love come from? Peace, I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27.

From where does wisdom emanateThe person who is wise will follow Jesus and reflect His qualities. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy, and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. James 3:17-18.

Do we make peace or sow seeds of anger and doubt? You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah, I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Psalm 32:7-8.

How do we dispel walking in the darkness in our lives without hope and fear of stumbling? When we really believe and love our Savior, Jesus Christ, our lives will reflect His goodness. Again, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12.

Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.  And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. Genesis 3-4.

I pray that out of His glorious riches, He strengthens you so that you understand how wide and long and high and deep is the Love of Christ.
