Reflection on “How the Knock Changes Eternity!” December 31, 2024

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.  Revelations 3:20-21.

Oh, how Jesus waits at the door and knocks at the door of our heart. Do we answer? Or postpone? I saw this painting when I was young. I wanted to clean up my heart of things that I knew would not please Him.

Little I understand that Jesus not only did Jesus died on the cross to be the sacrifice for my sins, but He would send a helper to teach me. “If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.” John 14:15-18.

“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to everyone according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” Revelations 22:12.

How do we know we can trust Jesus? Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.” John 14:6-7.

How can we know God? He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire. Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! Psalm 46:9-10.

So, all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” Matthew 1:22-23.

When we wonder Who our Lord God is, we give thanks to our Lord God and praise Him. Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous, For praise from the upright is beautiful. Praise the Lord with the harp; Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings. Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully, with a shout of joy. For the word of the Lord is right, And all His work is done in truth. He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord. Psalm 33:1-5.

“In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Do not fear; Zion, let not your hands be weak. The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:16-17.

Man does not know the things that God knows and understands, for our Lord God has His understanding. But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 1 Corinthians 1:9-10.

Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go. Oh, that you had heeded my commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, And your righteousness like the waves of the sea. Isaiah 48:17-18.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such, there is no law. Galatians 22-23.

Listen for the knock of Jesus on the door of your heart. Answer the knock and live in righteousness. It determines where you will live for an eternity.  Oh, how Jesus waits at the door for your choosing Him.  Do we answer? Or postpone our decision. When I saw this painting when young. I wanted to clean up my heart of things that I knew would not please Him.

Little did I understand that Jesus died on the cross to be the sacrifice for my sins, but He would send a helper to teach us when He returned to be with His Father God then.

If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.” John 14:15-18.

“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to everyone according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End the First and the Last. Revelations 22:12 .

How do we know we can trust Jesus? Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.” John 14:6-7.

Listen and answer Jesus’ knock to begin living in righteousness. Make it your mission to choose to live for an eternity with our Lord God.
