Reflection on “Everlasting Life Through Hope-filled Waiting!” April 30, 2024
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 NKJ.
It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. Lamentations 3:26. NKJ.
So many times we hear the words, God created the Heavens and the earth, and do not realize God created every living thing, and the air we breathe. “This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:39-40.
Our today and tomorrow is as far into the future as we can visualize. To continue forever with a plan seems inconceivable. Nevertheless, I am continually with You; You hold me by my right hand. You will guide me with Your counsel, And afterward receive me to glory. Psalm 73:23-24.
Trust in Him, at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah! Psalm 62:8. Why should we trust God in all things?
God gives us courage, strength, and a reason to hope. For I said in my haste, “I am cut off from before Your eyes”; Nevertheless, You heard the voice of my supplications, When I cried out to You. Oh, love the Lord, all you, His saints! For the Lord preserves the faithful and fully repays the proud person. Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart, All you who hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:22-24.
Faith means belonging to someone wholeheartedly. That belief gives us the hope to live each day. No one in the world offers to be around forever.
He, indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world but was manifest in these last times for you who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God. I Peter 1:20-21.
My soul waits for the Lord, more than those who watch for the morning—Yes, more than those who watch for the morning. O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is mercy, And with Him is abundant redemption. Psalm 130:6-7.
In whom can we find Life, or Truth, or the Way? Only in One Person, Jesus! Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.” John 14:6-7. God, the Father, sent Jesus to provide His Way to us through His death on the Cross and His Resurrection from the dead.
Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:20-21. Jesus and His Father God are not just concerned with us, but with every generation to follow. What we teach our children, and they teach their children. The Word of the Holy Bible helps us teach the wonder of Salvation.
But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children, To such as keep His covenant, And to those who remember His commandments to do them. Psalm 103:17-18. Our example teaches!
I was often told to be good and wondered what being good could be. Then I read Isaiah 40:28-29. Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might, He increases strength.
Who do you follow? “The sun shall no longer be your light by day, Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; But the Lord will be to you an everlasting light, And your God your glory.” Isaiah 60:19.
The commandment to ‘love one another’ is active when we are sensitive to other’s needs by being kind and serving while giving God the glory keeps us not dwelling on ourselves.
Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:20-21.
