October 5, 2021 – 2 Timothy 1:5-7

I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well. For this reason, I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:5-7.

Listen to me, you who know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear not the reproach of man, nor be dismayed at their revilings, but my righteousness will be forever, and my salvation to all generations.” Isaiah 51:7-8b.
Timothy grew up with a Grandmother and a Mother who lived righteously for God.  This gave Timothy being taught what a life of praise looks like. Love, self-control, and power are what the Spirit of God gives us.
Our Father, in Heaven, guides me in following the faith and love in Christ Jesus, Your Son. Guard the goodness the Holy Spirit teaches us and pray for those who come after. I pray in name of Jesus. Amen.
But we, your people, the sheep of your pasture, will give thanks to you forever; from generation to generation we will recount your praise. Psalm 79:13.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” Matthew 5:6.  How sweet are your words to my taste…Psalm 119:103a.

Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God. Follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. By the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you. 2 Timothy 1:8,13-14.
