October 27, 2020 – I Peter 1:3-5
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. I Peter 1:3-5.
When someone loves us with abandon how do we respond? We often hold back our love, and think others should ‘earn’ our love by behaving the way we desire. We love because He first loved us. I John 4:19. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and His love is perfected in us. I John 4:12.
How can we bless the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ? We bless God by learning to love others according to His commandments!
O Lord, my God, when I consider all the ways you have loved me, by being born again to the Living Hope in the risen Savior, Jesus. Teach me to love by serving others. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.
An inheritance is ours through Jesus, when we become a Child of God and no longer a slave to sin. No matter what life brings, we know this truth: So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. I Corinthians 13:13.
In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. I Peter 1:6-7.
