October 27, 2015 – Matthew 17:20

Matthew17-20“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” Matthew 17:20Have you ever climbed a very tall mountain?  You climb and climb and suddenly you can’t breathe as well.  When I was a young girl, our family often climbed small Oklahoma hills.  As I climbed and climbed, it was difficult.  I felt that this small hill was the tallest in the world.  Once I was on top, the view was delightful.  Everything I could see seemed smaller. When I read this verse, I would never even dream of moving a mountain.  It would be impossible.  With God all things are possible if we believe.  Having faith in God is like standing on top of the mountain and all the troubles seem smaller.  We realize that we can’t stand on the mountain of our own faith, but it is believing that God is, and Jesus is our Lord and Savior that enables us.Faith as small as a mustard seed…hold your thumb up, it would be a tiny speck on the top of your thumb.  Just that amount of faith — believing in God and having faith in Jesus Christ will help you do the impossible in the name of Jesus.I often feel like the father whose son could not speak or hear.  The father asked Jesus to heal the boy — IF YOU CAN.  The father had to declare his faith.  And he knew he needed to believe more and more.  Do you believe in Jesus, who walked this earth?  Do you believe Jesus can do all things?  This is true.  Do you hide away your faith in Jesus, or do you ask for more?  Shout with the father, “I believe in Jesus, help me to believe more!”Jesus said to the father, “Why did you say ‘if you can’? All things are possible for the one who believes. Immediately the father shouted, “I do believe. Help me to believe more!” Mark 9:23-24
