You rescue the humble, but you humiliate the proud. You light a lamp for me. The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness. In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall.Psalm 18:27-29The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness. Have you ever stumbled through a dark house, trying to remember the placement of the furniture, so that you won’t stumble? It is an eerie feeling. Your hand reaches out to fend off any stumbling block. The spiritual darkness we encounter causes us to stumble at every step. There is no way out. It is then that the light dawns in our heart. We need Jesus, for Jesus is the Light. He is the Light of the world and in the world. Have you ever wondered what the world would be if the world is devoid of Jesus? Have you ever wondered what would happen if all truth and love vanished from this earth? What if there were no smiles?God is NOT dead. Jesus lives in the hearts of man through the Holy Spirit. Why is this good news? He reached down from heaven and rescued me. That is good news for all of us. He leads us to a place of safety. At first we don’t understand why until we look back to the deep waters of darkness that we came from. Our hearts cry out to Him.We wonder why, always, why? Why does He rescue us over and over? The last portion of this scripture tells why. He rescued me because He delights in me!Dear Lord, help me to delight in your Being, your Word, your Will, even as you delight in me! I entreat you to continue to love me as I love You, with humility and joy. Amen and Amen.He reached down from heaven and rescued me; he drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemies, from those who hated me and were too strong for me. They attacked me at a moment when I was in distress, but the Lord supported me. He led me to a place of safety; he rescued me because he delights in me. Psalm 18:16-19
