October 22, 2020 – Mark 14:27-30

And Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’ But after I am raised up, I will go before you to Galilee.” Peter said to Him, “Even though they all fall away, I will not.” And Jesus said to him, “Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” Mark 14:27-30.

Peter met with peer pressure in the night. He didn’t want people to think He belonged to Jesus. Three times he denied His Lord. In the light of day, as the rooster crowed, he realized the truth. He denied Christ three times. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God!” Romans 3:23.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16.

Dear Lord of All, awaken me to the truth, Jesus is our salvation!  He is my Light in this dark world. May I not sin against You, O, Lord!!!  In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Forgive me. Amen.

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.  These are the later words of the forgiven Peter. 2 Peter 3:18. We, too, can find forgiveness.

But again he denied it. And after a little while, the bystanders again said to Peter, “Certainly you are one of them, for you are a Galilean.” But he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, “I do not know this man of whom you speak.” And immediately the rooster crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had said to him, “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” And he broke down and wept. Mark 14:70-72.
