Deuteronomy30-20“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses.  Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make.  Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!  You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him.  This is the key to your life.  And if you love and obey the Lord, you will live long in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”  Deuteronomy 30:19-20Choices are so difficult, unless,  you have a purpose behind the choice.  God gives us our life, by giving us a reason for living now and forever. On that hot summer day, I made a mountain of potato-choices.  Mom gave me the job of choosing the large potatoes from the small potatoes.  I immediately went into a mind tail-spin.  How big is big, how small is small.  What about the ‘in-be-tweens”?  When the choice is life or death, the choice is easier.  Unless you ponder those little ‘fun’ choices that lead to death. The key to life is loving and obeying God.  When your life is so filled with obedience, time is lessened for ‘death pursuits’.  This obedience and love becomes an energetic race, with all our minds, with all our hearts and all our souls. It is not a  sprint — this living for God. It is not a habit or a ritual.  It is LIVING with a capital L.  It is being a child of God, heir of God’s promises.  Take heart, renew your faith daily through the Word and joyously endure.  This is my prayer for you.For God is not unjust.  He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.  Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true.  Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent.  Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance.  Hebrews 6:10-12
