October 13, 2020 – Luke 19:1-4
He entered Jericho and was passing through. And behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector and was rich. And he was seeking to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd, he could not, because he was small in stature. So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was about to pass that way. Luke 19:1-4.
God provides for our needs. He cares for each of us. God gives great gifts to all people who seek to know Jesus. He planted a sycamore tree so it was just right for Zacchaeus to climb to meet Jesus.
Dear Father, help me to know more about this Jesus, the Son of the Most High. Fill me with His Presence, I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
How can we ‘climb the tree’ with Zacchaeus and seek Jesus? Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. I John 5:1-3a.
And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.” So he hurried and came down and received him joyfully. And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor. And if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it fourfold.” And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house since he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19:5-6, 8-10.
