But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8Nothing more beautiful than a tree. I am a ‘Tree Watcher”. They fascinate me. The graceful willow tree, limbs waving gently in the wind. The greens of a tree, the blooms of a flowering tree, the shelter for the songs of birds, the playground for squirrels, the place to hang a swing for a child, shade for resting. A tree is a marvelous thing. A God-ordained growing thing How often scripture will use a tree for an example. There are 277 references to trees in the Scripture. From the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil in Genesis to the Fruit from the Tree of Life in Revelation. It is no wonder that the book of Jeremiah likens a person who trusts in God to a tree planted near a life giving stream of water.God gives us life and security if we know His Name. Know. An interesting word. We can know something on the surface and we can know things heart-deep. We know friends, a spouse, family, but to know God is much deeper. God is steadfast, loyal, loving, forgiving and compassionate. No one we ever will know comes close to being like our Lord.I pray with David, “Lord, do not abandon me as I search for You each day. I need you, I love you, I trust you!”The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you. Psalm 9:9-10
