November 9, 2016 – Zechariah 2:10-11

zechariah-2-10-11The Lord says, “Shout and rejoice, O beautiful Jerusalem, for I am coming to live among you. Many nations will join themselves to the Lord on that day, and they, too, will be my people. I will live among you, and you will know that the Lord of Heaven’s Armies sent me to you. Zechariah 2:10-11As I read this scripture, I wondered why this scripture – Today?  We often think there are no other peoples who have lived in a world of enemies, yet in Zechariah’s time joy was proclaimed to the church of God. The Jews returned from Babylon and yet were in danger.  They are directed to sing and rejoice even in tribulations.  They were redeemed to purity, integrity, spiritual freedom. Just as we are redeemed through Jesus Christ. This is God’s plan.I Corinthians 2:9 –No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imaginedwhat God has prepared for those who love him.”  The mystery of God. And in God there is freedomBut whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:16-17This scripture from Zechariah is a picture of turning to God, accepting His Will for our lives, and letting Him be our Lord.  Hate evil and love God.  And above all rejoice and be thankful for the Lord chose each of us.

Just as God chose us, He gives us the power to choose Him. Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. Ephesians 1:4-5.

The land of Judah will be the Lord’s special possession in the holy land, and he will once again choose Jerusalem to be his own city. Be silent before the Lord, all humanity, for He is springing into action from his holy dwelling. Zechariah 2:12-13
