November 9, 2015 – Psalm 29:1-2

Psalm29-1-2Give unto the Lord, O you mighty ones, Give unto the Lord glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name; Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. Psalm 29:1-2The phrase, Worship the Lord in the beauty of Holiness…caught my eye and my heart.  What am I missing?  Beauty to me is the smile or chortle of a little child – innocence.  Or the vivid colors of the sky or the first leaf of spring and the last rose of summer.  Beauty is when I witness a kindness done out of love.  Beauty is truth and purity!  With never a scratch or dent of sin to mar it.All these things are gifts from God.  He is the author and finisher of our faith and salvation. And we worship Him with all the adoration we can give.  Give.  Give Him Glory, Give Him my strength and love, that He gave me first. Why adore Him?  His voice speaks over the din of the world.  We can hear the deafening thunder of the powerful, majestic voice of God in any thunderstorm, in the mighty waves of the ocean and the voice of the Holy Spirit within us.Elijah searched for God. I Kings 19:11-13 says this. Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.  And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And a voice said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”And we worship Him in the beauty of Holiness!

The voice of the Lord is over the waters; The God of glory thunders; The Lord is over many waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; The voice of the Lord is full of majesty. Psalm 29:3-4
