November 4, 2016 – Philippians 4:5
Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon. Philippians 4:5When we are considerate of others…we are showing love. Why would we do this? God is love, He created us with love, He placed eternity in our hearts, and the need to worship Him. He gave us life, He gives us hope through Jesus Christ. Jesus brings us joy. Have you wondered why it takes fewer muscles to smile than to frown? Frowning, anger, and the need to ‘get even’ takes more energy than to love and be considerate.Putting our love, faith, and trust in Jesus brings us benefits that are ‘out of this world’! No need to worry – place it in the hands of Jesus! Ask God for what we need and thank Him for all He is done. Why? Simply, to know God’s peace that invades our hearts and minds through Jesus Christ. Nothing else like it – we cannot understand this peace – but we can be thankful for it.It is His Peace that guards our hearts and minds as we live in Christ Jesus. This peace that gives us joy and helps us face all of our tomorrows laced with unknowns. Unknowns like sickness, death, poverty, and elections. As my father lay in the hospital, my mother went home to sleep. To me, that seemed unthinkable. Mom taught me a verse, I pondered this thought and her ability to sleep as I sat with Dad that night. You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine. In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe. Psalm 4:7-8.Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
