November 30, 2017 – 1 Thessalonians 5:8
But let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation. I Thessalonians 5:8.
One bright day, a group of kindergarten children and I went to explore a cave. We entered this world of complete darkness in single file and were thankful to see the lanterns along the way. Our guide stopped us in the center of the cave. He warned us to hold hands and turned out the lights. We were afraid to move. Darkness and silence covered us. We heard a bat fly through the cave above us in an eery fashion.
We rejoiced when light returned. Even so, in this world without Jesus Christ, we have no hope or light to follow. Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12.
God made the sunlight, the moonlight, and the starlight. And God sent Jesus Christ, the Light. Even as man-made lights lead us home on a dark night, God’s Son Jesus, leads us to everlasting light — our Heavenly Home.
James 1:17 – Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.
