November 27, 2019 – Psalm 62:5-7

My soul, wait in silence for God alone, for my expectation is from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress. I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor is with God. The rock of my strength and my refuge is in God. Psalm 62:5-7.

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations,  I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10.

Listening to the clamor of the wind this morning reminds me of the disciples, cowering in the wind-tossed boat, wondering how Jesus could sleep. And they woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?”  And He awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.   Mark 4:38-39.

There are many storms of life that threaten our lives and peace.  Each storm threatens to capsize our lives into disaster. It is then we are reminded Who our rock, our salvation, and our fortress is.  Turning to our Father in Heaven, our faith in Him will not be shaken. For Jesus calms every storm we encounter.

Fanny Crosby penned these words: He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock. That shadows a dry, thirsty land; He hideth my life in the depths of His love, And covers me there with His hand.

Blessed be the Lord! For He has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy. The Lord is my strength and my shield; in Him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to Him. Psalm 28:6-7.

Trust in him at all times, you people. Pour out your heart before Him. God is a refuge for us.  Selah. Psalm 62:8.
