“That is why they stand in front of God’s throne and serve him day and night in his Temple. And he who sits on the throne will give them shelter. They will never again be hungry or thirsty; they will never be scorched by the heat of the sun. For the Lamb on the throne will be their Shepherd. He will lead them to springs of life-giving water. And God will wipe every tear from their eyes.” Revelation 7:15-17On this 2014 Thanksgiving Day, I am most thankful for the promise of these verses and the hope and blessedness contained in these words. Jesus Christ, my Lord, came to this earth to die for my sins and your sins. His horrific death was compounded by sins of many generations of people who love Him.The innocence of this child in tears speaks to me. We are to come to Jesus with no pretense, but as a child. Is it any wonder that an innocent child draws us with love and tenderness and the desire to protect and guard against evil for that child? Even so, Jesus wants us to come to Him for protection against evil that destroys our most precious possession – our living soul.As we sit around the table today, counting our many blessings, let us remember our Creator. The One who gave us the very breath that keeps us alive. The One who created us in our mother’s womb. The One who sent Jesus into the world to save us from sins by shedding his own blood and was raised from the dead. The One who loves each one of us.One day we will join the mighty chorus around throne, with our faces to the ground and it will be an eternal Thanksgiving Day as we sing, “Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and strength belong to our God forever and ever! Amen!”Now that will be a Thanksgiving Day to remember, a holy Day of rejoicing. Bless the Lord, oh my soul!!!!And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living beings. And they fell before the throne with their faces to the ground and worshiped God. They sang, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and strength belong to our God forever and ever! Amen.” Revelation 7:11-12
