November 24, 2015 – Psalm
His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man, but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love. Psalm 147:10-11Delight. Have you ever felt delight? Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4. Delight means to please some one greatly. The Lord looks on the heart, not how fast you can run, or the strength of a horse. He wants to live in your heart. He wants you to delight in Him down deep inside. How are your parents delighted or happy with you? Isn’t it when you mind them because you love them? Yes! When we are delighted in the Lord our God and do what He commands, then He is pleased. He takes pleasure in those who hope in Him. There is a happy word, Hope. A word that makes an unhappy frown turn to a smile that begins in your heart.Sometimes we ask our parents, “Why can’t I?” Did you know that those times are when we are protected from bad things. They are making a safe place for us. A place where we can have joy.God strengthens our gates, and blesses us with peace in our hearts. He fills us with food – not with the food we chew and swallow. He fills us with satisfaction in our hearts, more than eating a double dip chocolate ice cream cone.Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!I Chronicles 16:34. Our shoes wear out, clothes begin to have holes in them, our best friends leave, but God’s love is always with us.Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion! For he strengthens the bars of your gates; he blesses your children within you. He makes peace in your borders; he fills you with the finest of the wheat. Psalm 147:12-14
