November 2, 2021 – I Thessalonians 5:5-6

For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober. I Thessalonians 5:5-6.

Jesus taught, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3-4.  In the next chapter, Jesus taught more about little children. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”  Matthew 19:14.

Why would Jesus welcome little children to Him? Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”  John 8:12.

Our Father, give me a humble heart, and may I bow before You, O Lord. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight! I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.

God commands us to love one another for I Corinthians 13:2, we learn truth. If I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. This chapter on what love is ends with these words, So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. I Corinthians 13:13.

But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with Him. I Thessalonians 5:8-10.
