November 14, 2017 – Psalm 145:14-15
The Lord helps the fallen and lifts those bent beneath their loads. The eyes of all look to you in hope; you give them their food as they need it. Psalm 145:14-15.
This morning, I needed help learning how to recharge a battery for my computer mouse. While I waited for my ‘fix-it’ son to arrive. I prayed with thanksgiving. The lyrics of a 1954 song came to mind. He can turn the tides and calm the angry sea. He alone decides who writes a symphony, He lights ev’ry star that makes our darkness bright. He keeps watch through each long and lonely night He still find the time to hear a child’s first prayer... (Richard Mullan).
The eyes of all look to YOU in hope. I remember the first morning in a small farm house, I struggled to find the things needed to prepare breakfast for my family. The silence of our three small sons at the table captured my attention. I turned and saw three pairs of eyes watching me with hope and expectation for the food they needed. They depended on me.
A light of double-understanding came to me. I am responsible for the well-being of our sons. I also understood the truth — without our Lord God, these needs cannot not be filled and sustained. The open Hand of our Lord provides filling for our hunger for life and thirst, and for belonging to Him. When we look to God for hope and expectation of life, He satisfies us with His endearing, forgiving love.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6
When You open your hand, You satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing. Psalm 145:16.
