But we worship at your throne — eternal, high, and glorious! O Lord, the hope of Israel, all who turn away from you will be disgraced. They will be buried in the dust of the earth, for they have abandoned the Lord, the fountain of living water. O Lord, if you heal me, I will be truly healed; if you save me, I will be truly saved. My praises are for you alone! Jeremiah 17:12-14In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. (Genesis 1:1-2)From the beginning of the heavens and the earth, there water played an important part of God’s plan. It is the fluid, the H20 of Life, living water. Is it any wonder that water is the first thing that is reached for to revive someone, that we are formed in a sac of liquid, that swimming refreshes us? Jesus offered Living Water to the woman at the well. He turned water into wine — his first miracle. Jesus thirsted as he hung on the cross and was given vinegar to quench his thirst.Drinking water on a warm sun-filled day refreshes us, just as the good news about Jesus gives us new life. The enigma of John 7:38-40 (below) fills us with wonder. That Holy Spirit that hovered over the deep, took Jesus into the wilderness, and is given to us through the water of baptism, fills our hearts with the love of God.Dear Lord of All, Fill me with your love and your blessings. Refresh me daily with the Word of God and His Love that flows through our hearts and minds. We praise You and love You, In Jesus’ Name, AmenAnyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart. (When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.) John 7:38-40
