May 7, 2020 – Philippians 3:14-16

I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. Only let us hold true to what we have attained. Philippians 3:14-16.

A sprinter keeps his eyes on the finish line.  He doesn’t let anything slow him down or drag him away from his goal.  To cross the finish line and win the prize is all that matters.  So it is when we hear Christ Jesus call us.

The prize must be ‘out of this world’ to make it a worthy goal.  Brothers, I do not consider that I made it my own.  But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead.  Philippians 3:13

Our citizenship is not on this earth, we are exiled here.  We await the second coming of our Savior Jesus Christ. He will transform our bodies to live with Him.  All things are under His Power.

Early this morning, I glimpsed the last Super Moon of 2020. The reality of Heaven came closer to my heart. A tangible reality of the glory to come through the power of Jesus Christ.

Those that cheer us on as we run this race is the cloud of witnesses:  Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us. Hebrews 12:1

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it, we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables Him even to subject all things to Himself. Philippians 3:20-21.
