May 31, 2017 – Job 40:6-7
Then the Lord answered Job from the whirlwind: “Brace yourself like a man, because I have some questions for you, and you must answer them. Job 40:6-7
“Will you discredit my justice and condemn me just to prove you are right? When we doubt there is a God, we begin reading in Job 38:4-7, and learn of God’s questions to Job: “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell me, if you know so much. Who determined its dimensions and stretched out the surveying line? What supports its foundations, and who laid its cornerstone as the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?
No man can answer these questions though they study for a lifetime. The only answer we have is to believe, follow, and trust God. He is all powerful. He is all-knowing. No earthly fame, success, or achievement of man can exceed the power God has over every aspect of our lives, including our hearts. In Ephesians 1:4-5, we find God’s plan for us. Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what He wanted to do, and it gave Him great pleasure.
We often hear the quote – Let go, and let God! There are moments in our lives captured by our hearts. One indelible moment for me is watching a two year old, trying to tie his shoestrings. When someone offered to help, he refused saying, “I can do it by myself!”
We cannot do life by ourselves – we are made to worship and glorify our Lord Jesus in all we do and say on this earth. It is no secret, what God can do! (Lyrics to an old song.)
Are you as strong as God? Can you thunder with a voice like his? All right, put on your glory and splendor, your honor and majesty. Job 40:9-10
