May 31, 2016 – Psalm 29:

Psalm29-5-6The voice of the Lord splits the mighty cedars; the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon.  Psalm 29:5Have you ever split wood with an axe?  If you are very young, your parent may have said, wait until you are older.  “You can use an axe when you are older!” It takes a lot of power in that swing of an axe to chop down a tree.  It takes power to split just one short bit of a tree trunk.  Now read that verse again.  The Lord God splits the cedar tree of Lebanon with just his Voice.God has a way with mountains.  God can make mountains skip like a calf in the field in the bright dawn of a day.  God’s voice is power.   All nature hears his Voice, for God’s voice created the world, including all the breathing animals and the stately huge mountains.  His Voice made  you and me and all the complicated theories that have scientists still puzzled. All the earth is created with just the Voice of God who spoke it into being.God’s spoken words are found in everything we see about us, and yet there are some who doubt.  The way we live, act and speak, is the Bible some people read.  His Words are our treasure and guide us to worship and praise only Him.  His Words lead us to peace and love.  Knowing and following the Lord our God is the way we can glorify Him.For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.  Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.  Hebrews 4:12-13He makes Lebanon’s mountains skip like a calf; he makes Mount Hermon leap like a young wild ox.
