May 3, 2018 – Psalm 23:2-3
He lets me rest in green meadows; He leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. Psalm 23:2-3.
What do we all desire most? Rest and peace. When the children asked their Dad what he wanted for Father’s Day, his answer was always – Peace and Quiet! With four teenagers in the house it was understandable.
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30.
There is a physical tiredness and a soul weariness. When chaos, noise without end, surrounds us, we cannot hear the voice of God and His Love, Joy, and Peace. We long for God’s Rest in our hearts.
A walk through the darkest valley brings fear, unless we know who walks beside us and protects us. Living with Jesus, our fears are taken away. When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer. Psalm 94:19.
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4.
Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. Psalm 23:4.
