May 25, 2021 – “The Wonder of God’s Creation!”

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims His handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. Psalm 19:1-2.

From the first moment I saw clouds in the sky, these words captured my attention, and I began watching. The array of colors in the clouds provided hours of enjoyment and wonder. Then I read the verse, I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.Genesis 9:13.

I began watching for rainbows and enjoying the promise-covenant with God and the assurance it gives.

As Moses led the Children of Israel from Egyptian slavery, in Exodus 14, I read that a cloud is used for traveling signals. Then the angel of God who was going before the host of Israel moved and went behind them, and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them, coming between the host of Egypt and the host of Israel. And there was the cloud and the darkness. And it lit up the night without one coming near the other all night. Exodus 14:19-20.

Then I read in Exodus when God gave the Ten Commandments to Moses. Again, I read with wonder how God uses His Creation as audio/visual guides for us. Then Moses went up on the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. The glory of the Lord dwelt on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day He called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud. Now the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the sight of the people of Israel. Moses entered the cloud and went up on the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights. Exodus 24:14-18.

Mother sat with me on a summer’s night as we waited for the Evening Star to appear. She told me as a girl, she often sat at her window and told secrets to the Evening Star. I often whisper, thank you to God, at the window just before I retire. The assurance and reminder of His Creation bids me good night, and the knowledge that God is and always will be. His steadfast love never ends.

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Psalm 8:3-4.

There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tent for the sun, which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy. Psalm 19:3-5.

There is no place on earth where the evidence of creation is not seen. The glory of God through His Creation makes known His invisible attributes. For what can be known about God is plain to them because God has shown it to them. For His invisible attributes, namely, His eternal power and divine nature in the things that have been made. So, they are without excuse. Romans 1:19-20.

Is there another way that God reveals Himself? First is His Word, the law. Then The Word with testimony, precepts, and commandments and the birth on earth of God’s Son, Jesus.

The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they, than gold, even much fine gold, sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them, there is great reward. Psalm 19:7-11.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made. John 1:1-3.

Another Cloud-Event is found in Acts 2:8-9. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” And when He had said these things, as they were looking on, He was lifted up, and a cloud took Him out of their sight.

God’s Word is a guide and instructions on how to live day to day, seeking first God and His Righteousness. Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law, he meditates day and night. Psalm 1:1.

The end of this Psalm is a prayer I have heard many times, and what a prayer it is. King David wrote this prayer to keep away from sin. He knew sin is costly. Following God’s commands and His way provides Joy and Peace.

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14.

Your testimonies are righteous forever; give me understanding that I may live. With my whole heart I cry; answer me, O Lord! I will keep your statutes. I call to you; save me, that I may observe your testimonies. I rise before dawn and cry for help; I hope in your words. My eyes are awake before the watches of the night, that I may meditate on your promise. Hear my voice according to your steadfast love; O Lord, according to your justice, give me life. Psalm 119:144-149.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” Matthew 5:6-9.
