May 16, 2015 – Psalm 86:1-3
Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer; answer me, for I need your help. Protect me, for I am devoted to you. Save me, for I serve you and trust you. You are my God. Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I am calling on you constantly. Psalm 86:1-3Is there anything more precious than to see a child praying? I can hear this little boy saying, “Bend down, protect me and save me!” Whether we are a child or an adult, we know without a doubt Who can save us and protect us. The very words, Bend down, tells us that God is the greatest Being, above all in all things and ways. One night, my grandfather took his two young daughters, Anna and Alma, to the barn to pray for healing for their baby brother. I can imagine Anna and Alma bending their heads in the dim light, clasping their hands in earnest prayer. I know that God’s heart was touched by their loving innocence, praying from their loving hearts. The verses below are a prayer that all of us, as babes in Christ, can pray. Pray earnestly, from the heart, and give our Lord all our hearts. Why?The last sentence tells us exactly the WHY of our following our God and following Him…for His Love is very great. You have rescued me from the depths of death!!!Indeed, it is the rescue from the depths of death. We need rescue from ourselves and our choices, plus all the distractions on the airwaves that vie for our attention. Help us to have eyes and heart only for Him.May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace. Numbers 6:24-26
