May 12, 2017 – Psalm 85:7-8

Show us your steadfast love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation. Let me hear what God the Lord will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints; but let them not turn back to folly. Psalm 85:7-8

Show, grant, hear!  A prayer for every morning. His mercies are new every morning, but if we are blind and deaf to his mercies, we will not connect in a real way to our Lord God.

It is only the Lord God Who speaks peace, no man – living or dead can speak or sustain the peace we long for. God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.  So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. Psalm 46:1-2.  This Psalm ends with these words –“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”  The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress.

Love and faithfulness, righteousness and peace!  These four fruit of the spirit…are a part of our salvation, which only comes when we fear (respect, have loyalty to, and obey) our Lord Jesus.  How difficult is it to love, be faithful to, live righteously and in peace?  Consider the fruit of the spirit — as our way in living with others. There is no law against these nine qualities the Holy Spirit gives us to live by.  Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control.  Each one is nothing without the others, they intertwine into a Jesus-Way of Living.  (Galatians 5:22-23)  Living with these nine attributes of the Spirit is Heaven!

Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land. Steadfast love and faithfulness meet; righteousness and peace kiss each other. Psalm 85:9-10
