May 11, 2021 – I Peter 1:14-16

As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” I Peter 1:14-16.

Obedience is required by our Lord God.  Just as God the Father is holy, we are to be holy in our obedience.  We are not our own but His Creation.  

What is holiness.  Constantly turning away from worldly desires within us.  Searching for righteousness and being clean within.  Walking with Him in His way which is love.  “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”  This is only possible through His Forgiveness and Strength.

How do we attain this holiness and purity from the inside out? Through obedience to the Truth and living and abiding in the Word of God. Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4.  

O Lord, my God, Lead me in your Way of obedience to Your Truth.  Give me the desire to meditate day and night on your love that fills me with Joy. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

What can make me whole again?  Nothing but the blood of Jesus.  These are lyrics from the pen of Robert Lowry, I have sung since childhood.  Words of Truth.   And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.  Hebrews 11:6.

Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God. I Peter. 1:22-23.
