March 6, 2017 – Psalm 16:6
Lord, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine. Psalm 16:6
We usually think of money as being the inheritance we long for when a loved one dies and leaves this world.
When we accept Jesus as our Savior, He becomes our inheritance. We become a part of the body of Christ. Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. Romans 12:4-5. We belong to Jesus, and He belongs to us. We learn a little more each day what it means to be a part of His body. Learning to trust Jesus in truth, having faith in Him, and loving Him as little children.
Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. I Corinthians 1:21-22.
An antidote for “I want” is praising the Lord and blessing His name, for what He has given. Knowing the Lord is right beside me, makes my heart know his peace and security. It is the reason in death and in all things, I can rejoice!
My cup runneth over!
I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done. I will be filled with joy because of you. I will sing praises to your name, O Most High. Psalm 9:1-2
I will bless the Lord who guides me; even at night, my heart instructs me. I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety. Psalm 16:7-9
