March 23, 2017 – Psalm 144:9

I will sing a new song to you, O God! I will sing your praises with a ten-stringed harp. Psalm 144:9

A new song! NEW – three letters used and prized for all of us.  We are excited about a new anything. A new car, a new house, a new toy, a new electronic gadget, a new haircut, a new dress or shirt, a new pair of shoes.

The new-ness wears off most things, a tear in new clothing, a scuff on shoes, a new haircut grows out, a new car gets a ‘ding’.  Things wear out on this earth. Including us.  With most things, there is a guarantee that something lasts 5 years or 10 years.

We search for anything that is renewable.  Something that brings us the joy of newness for a lifetime and beyond.  The Good News is Jesus came to renew our hearts by making us a new creation by following, believing, and choosing Him.

What happens when we choose to do something to dent, tear, or make our lives unlivable?  Anything we do, not made of love for God and loving others is a sin. Our joy comes from Jesus, who gave his life so that we can live free of sin.  Jesus alone can forgive us as we forgive those who sin against us. My favorite ‘new’ is making my life new in Jesus.  In Lamentations 3:22-23, these words are written.  The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.  I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!”

Look forward to a new hope and joy and praise God for the glory of a new day in Christ Jesus – today and every day for an eternity!

Yes, joyful are those who live like this! Joyful indeed are those whose God is the Lord. Psalm 144:15
