March 21 2016 – Psalm 16:5

Lord, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine. Psalm 16:5The Lord God is my only inheritance.  Think of all we think we ‘own’ in this world.  We can be stripped of health and wealth.  That new car, who will drive it now?  The new, well-furnished house, who will live in it?  We buy insurance policies on life, against wrecks, theft and fire.  We are ‘insurance poor’.Only in God can we have the ultimate insurance, it is when He and He alone is our inheritance.  When the One and Only Son of God, Jesus,  loves us, we have the ultimate security.  When we rest in His love, we know the love and surety of that which is our inheritance in the Lord God.God gives us the blessing of His love.  We desire the blessing of resting in the Lord and the freedom that is Jesus.  Living in Jesus gives us the joy of His presence of living with him now and forever.The strength of God’s Spirit and the joy is real.  Every time I visit my husband, deep in the depths of Dementia, I realize anew, that though he may have forgotten his family, his faith in Jesus is fresh as ever.  He continues to tell everyone he encounters about the blessings of God.  His patience with those who care for him underlines his faith.Only Jesus is the life, the truth and the way and can show us the way of life.
