March 20, 2018 – James 1:17

Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. James 1:17.

How often we search for the perfect gift for others, or, for ourselves.  We search for something that will please…a perfect gift.  We look for jewels as brilliant as the sun, twinkling gifts like a star that shines at night. We look for something stunning, and never changing.

We search high and low for a gift that brightens our friendships and shows our love.  We look for something that will be a prized possession to others.  What could it be? What gift has God given us? The Word.

God sent his Son to be a sacrifice for our sins, and we are reborn to a new life when we believe.  This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to Him. 2 Corinthians 5:17-18.

In this new life, we are reborn to live for Him, with Him, and in Him. We become God’s prized possession through Jesus, His Son. Living for Him, we draw others to taste the joy we have through Him.

No matter where we are on this globe, whether rich or poor, our God draws us together in his love, in thankfulness, living in humility before Him. Only through God’s son, Jesus, can we truly be His in every way. Blessed be the Lord.

He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became His prized possession. James 1:18.
