March 16, 2017 – 1 Peter 1:2-3
May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord. By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. I Peter 1:2-3
What information will last forever? What is the most important thing we can learn? It is knowing who God is and who Jesus is. When I learned Algebra in high school, I wondered how I would use the information about an unknown X, Y, and Z’s. It didn’t seem logical to me to add, subtract or multiply letters.
I grew up knowing God is Love and singing Jesus Loves Me, this I know. There is much more to know. Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written. John 21:25. There are promises, too! Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Matthew 28:20.
As each day wakes us up, do we ever want to escape this world? The world is filled with corruption and wrong-doing. The only way to get away is to follow the One Jesus Christ who lived on earth without sin. Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires. I Peter 1:4
