March 13, 2018 – I John 4:7-9

Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. God showed how much he loved us by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him. I John 4:7-9.

This love is not a half-way love!  This is love or not!  It is not like a see-saw, either up or down, God’s love is all the way-love.  God’s love never blows this way or that way in the wind of life.

Can you imagine the world without love? The only good things come from God.  We often hear the phrase, God is Good!  What does good mean?  Excellent, virtuous, righteous, and high quality.

The two commandments are these: Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’  The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.” Mark 12:29-31

You who love the Lord, hate evil! He protects the lives of his godly people
and rescues them from the power of the wicked. Light shines on the godly, and joy on those whose hearts are right. Psalm 97:10-11.

Do you remember how it takes two to see-saw?  To live this life with God takes two. If one jumps off, the other lands on the ground. When we no longer love God, we will worship other things and turn from Him. We land with a thud in this life. God sent Jesus to earth as a baby, to prove His Love and show us what a life of love is!
