June 6, 2018 – Psalm 85:7-9

Show us your unfailing love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation. I listen carefully to what God the Lord is saying, for He speaks peace to his faithful people. But let them not return to their foolish ways. Surely his salvation is near to those who fear Him so our land will be filled with his glory. Psalm 85:7-9.

Why do these two verses fill us with comfort and ease, able to take a relaxing breath in the midst of stress-filled life?  Unfailing love, on earth? Yes, God shows us love and care in many ways each day.

Why do we need salvation? Romans 3:23 – 24 –  For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.  God took the initiative to make a way for us through Jesus Christ. We live with Him, forgiven.

Can you imagine living in a land filled with His Glory?  A land where righteousness smiles down from Heaven and no hidden corners of corruption or deceit are found.  Think of the blessing of Truth in our lives.  The blessing of believing comes first from God and extends to all His children.

John 1:51 – Then he said, “I tell you the truth, you will all see heaven open and the angels of God going up and down on the Son of Man, the One who is the stairway between heaven and earth.”

This is my prayer, from Psalms 25:5 – Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in You.

Truth springs up from the earth, and righteousness smiles down from heaven. Yes, the Lord pours down his blessings. Our land will yield its bountiful harvest.  Righteousness goes as a herald before him, preparing the way for his steps.
Psalm 85:11-13.
