June 4, 2015 – Habakkuk 2:20

Habakkuk2-20” But the Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth keep silence before him.”  Habakkuk 2:20It was 1939, the choir sang a response after the pastor’s prayer, The Lord is in his holy temple, keep silence, keep silence before Him... The hushed congregation sat in silence for a moment worshiping in silence before the service continued.  Later, in Psalm 46:10, we read,“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”There is a gift in silence.  We learn in silence.  We learn knowledge and wisdom, and we hear the whisper of God’s voice in the silence — spirit talking to spirit.  The raucous world causes such a din that it causes our spirits to be overwhelmed and deaf to God’s voice. When we walk in the country, or in the park, we find an oasis of silence.  We find God and we can worship him with choir of birds singing their praise songs.  The wind blows through the leaves of the trees releasing their praise melody.  The animals add the rhythm of percussion as they frolic in the field.Does the Lord sleep in his holy temple in Heaven?  No, his eyes ever see and He tests the righteous.  Are we faithful, do we truly know God?  Listen.Father to the fatherless, defender of widows—this is God, whose dwelling is holy.God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.But he makes the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.  Psalm 68:5-6The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord’s throne is in heaven; his eyes see, his eyelids test the children of man.  The Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence.  Psalm 11:4-5
