June 25, 2020 – Isaiah 58:10-12
If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday. And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. Isaiah 58:10-12.
Pouring ourselves out, is a picture of seeing the needs of others and giving them the care they need. In the New Testament Jesus says, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to Me.’ Matthew 25:40b.
Knowing the Lord guides us continually comes from serving others and sharing His Love. This is part of the Joy of the Lord. When we see a plant that shows signs of thirst and wilting, we water. When a person is in need, their faith is wilting. They are hungering and thirsting for the Living Water.
When we trust and do good, we understand, Delight yourself in the Lord,
and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4.
Dear Father in Heaven. Help me to honor you and walk in your Ways of Righteousness. Help me to choose to love others, for I know my decisions make a difference to the generations that follow after me. In Jesus’ Name I Pray. Amen.
And the holy day of the Lord is honorable; if you honor it, not going your own ways, or seeking your own pleasure, or talking idly; then you shall take delight in the Lord, and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, for the mouth of the Lord as spoken.” Isaiah 58:13-14.
